Hickory Tree Furniture is
handcrafted in our workshop at
home. In 1993, after praying 6
years for a home occupation, the
Lord led us to a skilled hickory
furniture builder, whose top
priority was quality. We began
working under him to learn the craft. Now, years later, what began as an apprenticeship, has become our own family business, which we thank the Lord for.
We aquire quality hickory as saplings or as branches from more mature trees. All unusable branches and twigs are snipped off, then the hickory sticks are hauled to our shop, cut to length, and steamed to prevent insect damage.
When the hickory has dried sufficiently, the craftsman carefully selects the right combination of hickory sticks needed to build the piece of furniture. The limb knots are cut off and the sticks are smoothly sanded, leaving the bark on. Oak, cherry, or walnut wood is cut and sanded for slats, runners, and other items needed. After being steamed, which makes it bendable, some of the hickory is put on forms to be shaped. Other sticks are taken from the steamer, then bent and nailed

Each piece is carefully inspected, and then adjusted to meet our standard for symmetry and comfort. when the building process is completed, the hickory furniture is hand - sanded and sprayed with a natural finish several times, leaving a smooth, satiny coating which enhances the natural beauty of the hickory, and the wood grain patterns.
Since there are no two hickory trees alike, (which shows the awesome design of our great Creator - see Acts 14: 15, Genesis 2:9), the variation of knots, bends, crooks, and colorations all have a part in making each piece of furniture uniquely beautiful. We are reminded of our Heavenly Father, whose hands have created and formed us (Psalm 119:73; Isaiah 43:7) for a special purpose, and who is desiring to have a personal relationship with each one of us through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. As we yield our hearts, wills, and lives to Him, we enter into the beautiful, fulfilling life of becoming His very own workmanship, created in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:11) Amen!
HICKORY TREE FURNITURE, Manufacturers of many different models of natural hickory log cabin style furniture, is located near the heart of Amish country.
Take the 83 S. of Millersburg for approximately 8 miles until the blinking light in Clark. Turn right on CR 19. Keep for approximately 1/2 mile till the first Y. Go straight (left side of Y) on TR 312 for approximately 2 miles. Bear left at the next Y (TR 50). Keep for approximately 1 mile.
Watch for a mailbox on the right with business and Gospel signs. Our .4 of a mile lane turns to the left, and goes up through the woods.
